I just picked up the iPad2 for my fiancé today, which means I get one too! I love the thing. How convenient it is. Just letting MR know my joy!

Get a screen protector on it ASAP, those screens are nowhere near as scratch resistant as Apple would have you believe.

Not my experience....

We've got three iPads, two received on day one, and an iPad2 that are used constantly with zero scratches and have never had screen protectors on any of them.

This!

I've had an iPad 2 since May and use it heavily without any screen protector and I don't have as much as a blemish on my screen.

I got a scratch on mine within a month. I've had every iPhone model with no problems, but the glass on the iPad 2 seems softer.

It doesn't cost much to stick a protector on and it can make a difference.

agree, doesn't cost much, but it's so much nicer to use naked.

Some people put plastic covers on their furniture as well. If your usage habits make you think you need a screen protector, go for it. My eight-month-old iPad 2's screen is still pristine, protected only by the smart cover.
