I just realized that just about all my aversion against buying another SS AW came down to when people I know asked me what I paid for it. The vast majority would be absolutely ‘beside themselves’ if they heard I had paid $1151 all in. ($cdn, apple care, taxes)
Well, seeing that even here on this site, a number of folks don’t know aluminum from stainless, or plastic or even rubber the chances of those out in the real world knowing are almost slim to none.
So, I’m getting SS because that’s what I want and when asked what I paid, I’ll simply quote the price of an aluminum GPS AW. I’ll say something like, $500 or whatever and move on. Done.

It’s not often I have epiphanies any more. Just a lot of ‘senior moments’.

Why would you hide the price, and why would you give a @&£* what anyone thinks?

Interesting. I don't recall anyone ever asking me how much my watch was. (SS Space Black series 2 right now, getting the series 4 but haven't ordered it yet).

But it's true, a lot of people can't tell the difference. And the people who do have an eye for the stainless steel model will already know what they cost.

Because it’s just who I am. I am not what I’d call wealthy. Hearing people upgrading devices every year just because they can (or can’t) runs against my grain. It’s absolutely not for me to comment on, nor is it any of my business. It is just my opinion. Some people here must have a lot of expendable money, and what they choose to do with it is just fine. I am not one of those people, and I care that someone would think I am a lunatic for paying $1000+ for a watch. I apologize for being who I am.

I used to not care, but I have discovered from experience that if you have friends or family with drastically different income levels, it can cause real friction in the relationship.

I’m afraid in my world that’s their problem. If they don’t want to hear the answer (in this case how much...) then they shouldn’t ask the question.

I think it’s rude to ask anyone what they paid for something. That being said I do agree if you have family or friends from different income levels it might be a sore topic for some but...... you don’t have to actually answer them. Say something like “I don’t remember the exact amount but it worth it to me” or “did you know all the medical things this watch can do?” It would be the same if someone asked me how much my diamond cost. “ “thank you. Isn’t it beautiful. I love wearing it.”You don’t have to answer every question someone asks you. If they really want to know they can look on the Apple website.

The SS Model is a luxurious model that is not even in the same league as the sport model and I wouldn’t even want to wear the sports model version for a single day, can’t stand how cheap it feels. I’m getting an SS Series 4 tomorrow. My Series 3 and my Series 2 were SS Models as well. They don’t retain resale value as much as I’d like but it is what it is

If you have the money to afford the “finer” things in life you shouldn’t be embarrassed or ashamed to be honest. Wear it proudly. If of course you took out a loan to buy your SS Apple Watch that’s another story. Lol

Btw...don’t live your life worrying about what other people think. Chances are they don’t give a f*** about you. Do what makes you happy. (Motivational speech over..haha)

LOL.....I just deleted a reply that I thought (OK, knew) would offend some people. It said something regarding just about that. Society has made it perfectly acceptable to own absolutely anything and everything whether you can afford it or not, and being an old guy, I wasn’t raised that way. Dropping money on something I do not absolutely need is a problem in my mind. Going in debt for it is outrageous. S

I never discuss what I paid for anything. Usually only people who are critical of others ask the price anyway. Like the above poster says.. who cares what people think. If they have an issue with what we bought, they can deal with that baggage.
