I upgraded from a fully loaded PB (1.67ghz, 2GB RAM) to a dual 2.3 PM (2.5GB RAM) and it has made working with 8mp RAW images in photoshop a lot more manageable. Web browsing/email there is not a noticeable difference.

Overall, I have to say, I like my PB more. It is an elegant machine that can handle its own in most tasks that I do. It is easy to move around.

The PM is a big heavy fire breathing monster. I can feel my electricity bill creeping up at that 200W rating, and also i can feel the hot air blowing under my desk.

I can't keep both so I will probably sell the PB, because I need the photoshop performance, but i'll be sad to see it go.

I have a request, anyone have any technical overviews of the G5?

Also does anyone have any benchs for how a G5 compares clock for clock to a Pentium 4? Does it pan out more or less teh same or?

I sometimes use the iBook from a friend to work on location...

and then I see the speeddifference... when I open any application on my dual 1.8 G5 its allmost instantly open (ok Photoshop takes longer... loading everything, but still faster, but than again... I have 1,5GB ram his has 640 mb... )

for instance when I use Nikon Capture (not at all a heavy app) its click and run but not on the iBook...

on the other hand... if you install your Mac mini in a McLaren SLR & the G5 in.. let's say... a Ford Mondeo... the Mac mini will be faster in top speed (mph/kmh that is 😛 hahahahahaha)
