It's a 23 month old 17" Macbook Pro, yet the battery is dying after only 66 LoadCycles despite my "exercising" the battery according to Apple's recommendations - "Calibrating" etc. An Apple store tested it and says that I need a replacement. Find this hard to believe but there it is. Has anyone had a similar experience? I mean, how long should a battery last?

You have 66 cycles in 2 years? I have 152 in about 8 months.

It is not unreasonable to have to change the battery after two years.

A possible very naughty explanation: I think the "load cycles" displayed are not actually the load cycles of the battery, but the load cycles of the computer. At least when I exchanged my battery, the load cycles didn't go down, but stayed at about 480. So there is a possibility that the original poster really looked very well after his battery and almost never used it, and when he didn't watch his MacBook Pro, someone swapped the batteries

Anyway, have a look on eBay for batteries.
