I just jailbroke my iPhone 3G and I couldn't be happier. I just have a few very simple questions.

Is there a Cydia app that allows to turn the SMS keyboard? If so, a source?

Also, where can I find a good tutorial about SSH? I don't understand it and I want to learn more. I tried a Google search for SSH and it came up with a bunch of forum and blog posts, not realy a good how to and explaination.

Thanks for any help that can be offered!! I look foreward to learning alot from this forum and hopefuly contributing what I can.

jailbroken app 'mysms' allows for landscape sms. so does the newest bitesms (although you cant read your texts in landscape for some reason). mysms allows both. you have to buy it though to get rid of the nag delay in sending texts.

ssh is just a network protocol. the 'howto' you want to know about completely depends on what you want to do.

This is an excellent education on SSH. ;)

As far as landscape SMS, an app just appeard TODAY on Cydia!

It's called, "MySMS," and it's available from the BigBoss & Planet-iPhones repository. :)

*** Edit *** I don't know how I missed that iblastoff already covered MySMS! Either way, there you go. ;)

DO NOT USE MYSMS. It is trialware crap unless you pay for it and it isnt nearly as well designed or implemented. If the dev puts more work into it then it may well be worth it. BiteSMS is a LOT better, it is designed almost identically to the Apple app and it does the same thing as mySMS only better and designed better.

    *** Disclaimer ***

I have never used MySMS. I was simply letting the OP know that the app exists. :)

If you have a Mac, use Netatalk instead of SSH. Your iPhone shows up in Finder like any shared drive. Very easy and cool.

MySMS forces a 30 second delay on sending occasionally unless you buy it. BiteSMS is 100% free to send via carrier, they OFFER a $.10 per message credit system for those that prefer it. You can also send contacts and embed you current location in the form of a google maps link either over GPS or cell geolocation.
