I have done some of these for other brands of phones.
Now that I got my first iPhone, I attempted to make one, the only thing is, it's very hard to align the shelves, not sure why it always changes the alignment...

The alignment issues are likely due to the slight zoom from the parallax. This would look incredible if there was a way to ditch the icon labels.

Looks OK, bit of old idea, and only really works when the grid is full, otherwise you get shadows where there are no icons. Plus you get the odd alignment issues as you say under certain situations.

Reminds of me of pre-iOS 7 era. No bueno.
I'm one of the old timers that pines for the pre-iOS7 days as far as aesthetics go. I prefer a wallpaper that can add a little depth whether it's from shelving like this or faux-drop shadows. Problem is as mentioned in the OP: it's difficult to make them line up due to the parallax effect.

Yeah exactly, it's like "ooh look we can make them look like they are on shelves", most people tired it, then went back to their go-to wallpapers. For me they are images of family stylised with B&W backgrounds, but of soft focus, but people and key objects picked out in colour and pin sharp.

Turn off the effect then.

Totally understandable, just not for me. Appreciate the effort though.

I'm not the one making them so not sure why you quoted me. I'd be interested in seeing one of your wallpapers. Sounds like a neat combination of effects.
