So i just ordered a Quad-Core 2.93 but i want to get a 2nd hard drive from Newegg.

This will be my first desktop along with the first time installing a Hard drive into a Mac.

I wanted to know if there is any steps to follow or if the hard drive is just plug and play.

And i will not be running a raid configuration as my plan is to install XP on one drive.

Thanks all for your help

Absolutely Plug & Play. Not much too it. As the other poster said, just format it from Disk Utility once you have plugged it in!

It's also worth noting that if you're looking at installing a Velociraptor drive, be sure to get the model that is backplane-compatible (HLFS model suffix) and not the other version (GLFS suffix).

Other than that, virtually any SATA drive will work in a Mac Pro.

Or the 2.5" (BLFS) version, unless a mounting solution is available/DIY'ed. 😛
