If you are at home you can stream them from a NAS (yes even FLAC) and if you are not home you can also stream them from your NAS via 3G/LTE/open Wifi.

Complicated storage! I can't bring them to the road too.
Apple should give an option for HDD. Some people may want it.
Or perhaps 1.5TB of SSD, cheap. I need one.

What many people don't know is that a key factor to your SSD's lifespan is how often you overwrite existing content with new data.
Of course, all hard drives have that problem, but with flash storage it's actually possible that you reach the limit within 4 years of use.
Then, your SSD will just be dead.

In a nutshell, get a (cheap) external hard drive and stick with the smallest built-in storage you can get. And try not to strain your SSD with movies, photos and the like as those are things you might wanna delete at some point.

Why would it be complicated with a NAS? It is basically a matter of plugging it in, I made my own via my HTPC in my living room with 6 TB of storage or so, most likely adding another 6 soon. On the road you can access it via 3G/LTE.

Also, you can most likely get a large SSD if you want in your mac, but you have to pay the price. If you want something out of the ordinary you have to pay for it.

NAS is Network Storage. Networking is a big pain in the neck. I can't even send my files from Mac to PC, what more on a Drive? There's all these protocols and IP addresses, Mac addresses and all those kinds of stuff. USB would be nice, but you have limited storage. I just filled my first 1 TB drive. I wouldn't want to bring along 6 External Hard Drives.

3G is also a big pain in the neck. At 20 KBPS, loading MacRumors alone takes 30 seconds. 2 minutes for all the pictures to load. LTE is not available yet. And you have to pay just to access your files.

The best solution is always Internal Drives. Cheap 2 TB SSD on the MacBook Air would be nice. Apple should research on how they can achieve this while maintaining the $1000 price tag.

If you don't want to deal with that theres a easy fix, pay the price for a big SSD. Things in this world usually either cost money or time, your choice what you want to spend.

Depends on if you live in a technologically advanced country or a third world country. I rarely see speeds under 2 MBit on my 3G even if I go far out on the countryside.

No that is not always the best solution, I would not even want that solution. I want my data to be stored more safely than on a laptop and be backed up many times a day to other physical disks.

Your last statement made it clear you are just trolling, Apple already knows how to acieve a 1 TB SSD while maintaining the $1000 price tag. Just wait a few years until the prices of SSD drops, it's not rocket science.

Ditto, and personally I think it's better to store photos, movies, and music etc. on external drive.

I cant agree more, get an external drive for that purpose - Im for example using Synology so I dont need to hookk up some cables to the Mac - I just connect it to the Apple Thunderbolt Display and work with network drive via 1GBit cable - which gives me great speeds while transferring photos, videos etc.
