I'm going to wait till it actually gets released. I can pay £30 extra and then get a 2 year guarantee that includes accidental damages :)

Yesterday I pre-ordered a White 32GB iPod Touch 5g, no extra accessories.

I figure I'll end up with a drawer full of cables and such eventually, so I held off on extra cables. LOL

If the iPad Mini comes out later this year, I'll probably buy one as well -- especially if they manage to cut the weight as dramatically as they did with the iPhone and iPod Touch.

As far as my iPod Touch ship date -- it said, "October". So, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

iPhone being released ahead of the iPod touch

The iPhone shipping well ahead of the iPod Touch goes to show where Apple is putting their priorities on....sigh.....:(

would've been soooooooo cool if the iPod Touch came out at the same time as the iPhone....but alas...Apple is putting their efforts on reaping the profits made on the iPhone, then, playing second fiddle to the iPod Touch....

At least they are giving it to us... And a fine looking improvement at that. There for a couple months I was seriously starting to think they were going to go another year with the same form factor. I gotta say, I was way more impressed with the improvements on the iPod than the iPhone!

Ohhhhhhhh neat.

Yeah, I think it adds a nice personal touch. I also went back and added my email, in case it gets lost.

October Ship Date

Pre-ordered the black 32G from Nebraska Furniture Mart. Order confirmation said it would ship on October 9th.

Heck yes I preordered. It's the worlds thinnest, sleekest portable computer. Apple even said "it's the best thing we have ever made". I got the 32GB RED, and am very stoked.

The iPad and Nexus can't fit in your pocket. Why is this so hard to understand?

Yep, your Nexus 7 and iPad 3 fits very well in your pocket.

Guys, there's already a bunch of threads about whether the iPod touch is worth it -- this is just for those that preordered one. Thanks!

I keep mine in the opposite pocket from my MacBook Air.

I have my iPad2, love it. But I also have my Nexus 7, and it must be that none of you own it, becuase it fits just fine in my back pocket of jeans, even with a case on it.. I carry it there all the time....

I would normally preorder from Apple.com, but I'm thinking of just going to my local Apple Store whenever the release date is set.

From past experience, should I just go ahead and pre-order online or do you think it's going to be a hassle getting the color I want from the Apple store? Going for 32GB Silver/White.

So convenient.

Just a point that it does fit in pocket. I love both my tablets, each has its purpose. I give love to both Android and Apple.. guess i am true techie.. whomeever has the best to fits my needs... gets my money..

I've owned the iPad 2, and 3, and every generation of the iPod Touch. I always ended up selling or returning the iPad, and keeping the iPod Touch.

If I am home, i am using my iMac for web browsing, and media, and my xbox for gaming and netflix.

If I am away from home, or traveling, I prefer using my iPod Touch. The iPod Touch is always with me, always in my pocket, and its easier to hold in my hands than a tablet.

I definitely dont bust out and use a tablet while I am waiting in line somewhere, or use when I am sitting on the toilet. The touch is just more suitable to use in small spurts.

And one of the main things I use it for is to listen to podcasts and music when I am working out on the gym, cycling, or going for walks. Definitely can't do that with the iPad.

Yep, ordered my first iPod Touch 5 (32GB, black) on 15 Sept.
It's going to replace my 32GB iPhone 4 that's coming off contract soon. I didn't use mobile 3/4G internet much, and free WiFi Hotspots are plentiful these days. Using the iPod Touch together with a cheap cell phone contract will save me around 50% in fixed and variable costs. Besides, selling the iPhone 4 will fund most of the costs of the new iPod Touch 5. No contest, really...
