I just received Windows 7 Upgrade CD today. I bought a new laptop in September and I was eligible for the free upgrade. (Although, Lenovo charged $17.03 for shipping & handling )

I see I have two options: 1. Upgrade from Vista 2. Clean install

What would you recommend? (I know I'd have to back up everything first if I want the clean install.)

Please, do not move this post to MacBook board.

clean install, you need to remove Vista ASAP, its detrimental to your health. Windows 7 rocks, I'm using snow leopard right now but im PC as the advert goes!

I'm facing the same dilemma on my HP desktop I bought a few months back. I got my upgrade disk about a month ago, but I haven't done the upgrade yet. I usually go for clean installs, but I did violate that rule with Snow Leopard. At least HP didn't charge for the disk, though. :)

I did the Win 7 upgrade on a Vista machine, I regret ever doing that. More hassle than what it should. I ended up using an extra 4 hours trying to fix the problem and gave up and finally did clean install which took 30 min and gave me 0 problems.
