I received some samples from Shutterfly, and I was put off by the quality of the printed photos. They definitely did not look like photographs, they were coarser and didn't have the sheen or sparkle of photographs. I think they use the same type of printer as with these iPhoto Books. So for me, these Books are a no go until the quality is on par with a traditional photo lab.

That reminds me about something I read on Apple.com about how they preferred that you saturated the photos a little bit to match how they looked in iPhoto. I worked on my photos in Photoshop before printing the book, so they looked like real photos.

can you get these books without having a mac??
Nope :)

See, it's things like this that have made me want to switch to a Mac. Well, that and I'm sick of Windows. But when I see things like this - and I love photography so I'd made too many iPhoto books - it makes me want to get an iBook now now NOW. And I would, if my iBook money wasn't now going to putting a new transmission in my car. Doh.

I used to be diehard "Windows is kewl! Macs r slow and stooopid!" but now I'm not. Mac needs to advertise more (and maybe new Marketing head will change that - I see HP ads everywhere) and they can get more people to change over. And the Mini is a good start, I think, if they can fix a couple things (more USB ports!!).

Anyway, go iPhoto books! I can't wait till I get my iBook. I've got some "arty" photos I can sell, and I could see me making an iPhoto book as a portfolio. Hmmm....so many options!

Annnnnnd I'm done.

 Wow those books look amazing, kinda like a travel brouchure. The pictures look like good quality even through take a picture of the book. Now the only thing i need a new camera, o and ilife 05

generationxwing, you CAN make books on Windows. I'm not saynig you should, but you can.

Apple should probably advertise more, but they save a lot of $ and use their ad time wisely. Besides, lucky for them, Macheads everywhere are like secret salesmen for Apple. They promote Macs better than any ad can. :)

i feel that all apple commercials are stupid. for example, the ipod shuffle commercial is just a guy dancing in a green silhouette? How does that make me want to buy it? Maybe if they advertised their computers more and how powerful they are, and how good they look compared to pcs, they would get more.
