Just rented a movie from itunes. Does anyone know how much of it needs to be downloaded before I can start watching it? It says 3 hr. to download but I was under the impression from watching the Apple keynote speech that you could start watching it a few minutes after you purchased it. Don't want to run into one of those situations where you get to watch 15 min. of the movie and then have to wait another 20 min. for the buffer to fill up again.

    Thanks,
    Richard

It looks like your Internet connection is fairly slow.

When they say you can begin watching immediately, they are referring to folks with a fast broadband connection. Some for example can DL the movie in well under 30 minutes.

In your case, let's assume that the movie is 2 hours long and it takes 3 hours to DL. At some point, you are going to be into the movie farther than what has been DL'ed. So my suggestion would be to wait an hour or two, then start.

And of course next time, maybe DL a movie while you are sleeping to watch the next evening.
