Just restored and set up as new, already 5.24GB of "Other"?

I restored my phone and set up as new on iOS 9.3.1, and everything was going well until I noticed this ridiculous "Other" data on my iPhone.

I redownloaded all apps and photos from iCloud Photo Library, but I am not sure why this issue appears. Prior to the restore, I only had 2.23GB of "Other" data.

Any thoughts?

I did not find a resolution to this myself without restoring, so I re-restored, and the issue was fixed.

Strange.

For me, 128GB model, the "others" is also ridiculously small. Only 1.28GB approx.
And glad you have removed that mysterious "other".

How many pictures and videos you have in iCloud Photo Library?
3.7GB.

I actually turned it off because I think that was causing the issue.

Unfortunately it will creep up again.
Has never been that high after a restore, or at any point for me.

I currently have 1.19GB after I restored yesterday, which is a normal amount. I had like 800MB after re-restoring.

So what was the fix? You restored the phone in a new devices? And then?

When I had this issue I just hit shift + Restore iPhone and I selected the ipsw, and once that was finished I set as new again. And that's it.

when i have a bunch of other, it turns out to be content that itunes isn't syncing right. and removing each synced content will fix it. i had this nasty problem where turning on itunes match sent my entire music library to other. and i had to turn off itunes match, manually delete any synced content and then turn it back on to clear it

i had a more recent problem where i would have like 20 gigs of photos, but the iPhone only sees 5 gigs with 15 gigs of other. i could never fix it, so i just switched to iCloud

the internet says that these are messages or temp files. i beg to differ , the times when i had more then a few gigs of other was always something related to a bad sync to my phone, be it photos, or music

i would argue that with iOS 9, theres not a shred of messages or attachments under messages that shows up as other.
