No new revelations, just my opinions. I preordered at 3:04 EST last week. I also had some reservations about how well I would like it and wanted to go hands on before going through with it.
-It is more impressive on your wrist than expected.
-Feels very well made, but I'm not ready to claim the "luxury " tag. Although it looks nicer than any time piece before it in my opinion.
-The demo I played with was very responsive. Force tap, swiping, the dial, everything.
-My wife has been lukewarm about getting hers the whole time, granted she is not a techie (she has one preordered too). She loved it, can't wait to get one.
-The sport band is fine and I will use it as my primary band, but the Milanese is by far the best fitting in my opinion. I can see a change in bands for "dressing up" or "dinner band".
-Black Milanese would be great
-Eager as everyone else to see all 3rd party bands.
-I wish I could have tried the "awaken" gesture while on my wrist, but the wearable demo doesn't function.

Hope this helps some of you and I will try to answer any questions I can.
While wearing it, I kept wanting to stay longer and do more, but our combined 30 minutes ran out quickly. I left thinking, "mine can't get here soon enough.
Maybe my wife said it best, in her unbiased, no concern for latest tech opinion...everyone is going to want one of these.

Did my appointment earlier today. Went straight to t e SG/BB since that's what I pre-order and it confirmed my choice It did not disappoint, I'm very happy with it. The watch looks and feels great. Tested out SS with milanese band-ordered one for the SG. Yes not the same color/material but looks good just the same. The black leather band also goes perfectly with the SG. Now it's just a waiting game

I too came away impressed from the demo. I ordered the space gray sport and seeing it in person reaffirmed my decision. I must say, the stainless steel's photos don't do it justice. It looks awesome in person. Perhaps I will go fancier for Apple Watch v2. This will end up being another runaway success for Apple once the growing pains are over with the initial shortage and once we get native apps. It feels worth the $350 starting price tag.

I had my try on demo and it just confined what I already knew. I loved the Milanese band and was very impressed with the weight, size, and the software. Sure there are always bugs in the beginning but wow you can totally see what's coming.

I just went and tried a few on yesterday as well. Unfortunately my station did not have any sport 42mm other than the SG. You get the idea of finish with the 38mm sport that they did have. I tried on the 42 SS with the link and Milanese and loved both of them. Very nice designs on both of those bands, but will probably never get either due to price and my other watches have SS bracelets to fit that style need.
I really liked the 42 mm SG with the black rubber though. That rubber strap did feel very upscale for being rubber and I will probably get a black sport band and wear it until the 3rd party market steps up.
The demo watch was nice to interact with and showed some really useful features.
I agree that it didn't feel 'luxury' but for a non Swiss mechanical it did feel very nice and better than I had expected.
