Alas, just shipped the new XDR back to Apple. Had a problem with the video presets. When starting up the display fresh, i.e. just plugged into AC power and powered up my Mac Studio M4, everything would work as expected. I could change to any of the presets, or refresh rates, and the monitor would respond fine. But, if I put the M4 to sleep and woke it up a while later, the XDR would go to a black screen if I changed to a different preset. The only way to bring it back was to unplug and start over. Then everything would work until the next sleep cycle. I contacted Apple Support via chat and that was a waste of time. The guy had me start the M4 in the safe mode, then let it sleep. Same problem. I waited a day and called in but got no additional help. He had me hook up to a different Mac, but I was unable to replicate the problem. Seems like it has to sleep for more than a few minutes for the problem to occur. Problem occurred with the TB cable that came with the Display as well as with two different Apple TB4 cables. I asked if any reports had come in from other users, but the tech had no idea. I suspect it's a handshake problem that can be corrected with an update, but I didn't want to risk it not being fixed and getting outside the return window. Lesson learned.....don't buy brand new hardware. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Same on my last gen ASD with my MBP M4 Pro. Sometimes it would wake up and just be a black screen. No docking station and stock cable…def a macOS issue.

I had a similar problem but after restarting my computer this seams to be working fine, even after it wakes up.

Unfortunately, that didn't fix it for me. The only "fix" was to power cycle the Studio Display. And that would only work until the next sleep cycle of more than an hour or so. Glad it worked for you, though!

Tons of issues with mine too
Studio XDR + Studio (vertical)
Macbook Pro M4 Pro (work machine) and Macbook Pro M3 Max (Personal)
OWC 11 port TB5 Dock, brand new premium TB5 cables.

Long story short - M3Max works perfectly, no issues.
M4 Pro is a dumpster fire. Sleep or reconnection kills the studio vertical even though the dock is fine with ethernet and webcam etc.

Super annoying as my XDR Pro with the studio and TB4 dock ran like a champ.
