Just sold my two year old Powerbook G4 17" for £760 (approx $1400 USD)... think I did quite well! It's the second to last revision of (IMHO) Apple's best portable computer so far.

    • Powerbook G4 17" 1.67GHz, 1GB RAM, 100GB HD
    • Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 installation discs
    • User manual
    • Power adapter & extension
    • Laptop bag
    • USB hub
    • Firewire 800 cable
    • Firewire 400 cable
    • Applecare package (1 year remaining)
    • Proof of purchase
    • Transfer of ownership notification
    • Original packaging
I used www.Mac2sell.com to work out the price - seems to work out quite well. It's a heck of depreciation in two years, but compared to a PC laptop, I'm laughing all the way to the bank!

That website is a bit dodgy...it rated a Mac Pro 8-core 3GHz 8GB RAM and 1.25TB HD at only £2850 (it retails for just over £5000); and my MacBook is only worth £550 according to it. Boo!

Lil' update to this story - the guy I sold to works in our IT department. He bought my PowerBook for his son's 16th birthday - the lad had previously done work experience with me in graphics - and is now starting a college course in graphic design and media studies.

So although I'm sad to see my 'Book go, at least I know it's in good hands!

And apparently, dad hasn't stopped talking about how great OSX is to the rest of the IT support guys. I wonder if I'll get charged with inciting sedition? :D
