I just spoke with an AT&T rep and he told me when MMS is offically available in the middle of summer they will ask all iphone users to download something to enable it. I'm guessing its going to be an official IPCC update? Wrong? Right?

More likely. I mean, just to enable MMS and Tethering for the US iPhone, you don't need a full flegded update. A carrier settings update should do fine. Just like the one we had back in Febuary in which it enabled femtocell support for iPhones.

While I get a bit tired of all the "spoke to an AT&T rep and he said..." threads, I have to admit that I do take a small bit of pleasure knowing they are being bugged to death about MMS. Truth is, they SHOULD have had it ready when 3.0 came out. I mean they only had, what six months or so? And it's not exactly a new feature since every other phone they sell already has it.

...that he wished people would stop posting threads about what he told them. ;)

THEY ARE ALL BS, whatever they told you!!!! No one knows when MMS is going to be "officially" available (officially in quotes so those who have it unofficially, no need to tell us you have it....ok:)) . No one knows when tethering is going to be "officially" available. Read the threads throughout this forum and you'll see the same posting you are about to post about MMS, etc.

see the above thread

Simple logic.

MMS is coming, according to AT&T, some time before the end of summer. The first day of Autumn this year is September 22, 2009. Ergo, dunc thus....MMS will be available sometime on or before end of day September 21st, 2009. Please be considerate and refrain from hounding them until then.
