This morning swapped my 2012 11.6" air for a 2012 13.3" pro.

Question though...
Swapped my SSD from my faulty macbook with the HDD

all working fine.

But want up the ram from 2x2GB to maybe 2x4GB

In machine is DDR3 12800.
I looked up specs on everymac.com and it says DDR3L is needed but it does not have L ram in it now.

Other sites also conflicting, can someone please confirm?

Maybe u should name your thread title after the problem you have or answers u are looking for? Just maybe

The "L" just means low power. DDR3 runs at 1.5V, DDR3L runs at 1.35V.

You'd be better to check Apple's official support page, which says:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2012)
Number of memory slots
2
Base memory 4 GB
Maximum memory 8 GB
Memory card specifications - Double Data Rate Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (DDR3) format
- 67.6mm x 30mm (1.18 inch)
- 2 GB or 4 GB
- 204-pin
- PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 MHz type RAM
Additional notes For best performance, fill both memory slots, installing an equal memory module in each slot.

apple page does not say "L" and not "L" in it right now either.

just wanted be sure as we got some "L" spare at work.

I'll go find some standard ram

But crucial say it "L" ram yet apple say it not and it does NOT have "L" ram in it now.

I have a spare 4gb "L" stick but not going to fit it if it gonna kill it being lower voltage.

This is why I ask here the users as sure they know what is in their machines.
