Put new thermal paste. It was pretty easy the CPU was less then $45. the amount of dust I had to clean out of the fan was amazing.

I bought a 12 core and 8 core (E5-2667) for my 6,1. Originally installed the 12 core and it wouldn't boot, so I swapped in the 8 core version. Which also didn't boot, some debugging later I realised some power cables were loose and it booted with the 8 core. Now I'm nervous about pulling it apart to repaste the GPUs.
