A few weeks ago my girlfriend bought the JVC Enverio GZ-MS100U camcorder. It is a nice little camcorder that has one touch upload to youtube. On the box it says that it is compatible with mac, but the software is not included.
The problem is all the videos are sorted as .MOD files. And quicktime and iMovie can not open them.

Does anyone know of any way to make this work, other then me launching VMware and importing everything for her....?
    Thanks

MOD FILES on MAC with JVC GZ-MS100U

    hi there.

I just purchased the same camera JVC-GZ-MS100U and was very disappointed when I could not open my files directly on my mac, thinking that the files would be .MOV or some other compatible format.

I did find a solution though.. You MUST purchase the Mpeg-2 Component for quick time in order to play these files....

    I also used Perian plug-in as well..http://www.perian.org

After i installed the Meg-2 component, http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2,Imovie recognized the files and i was able to view, edit and export them in to youtube directly from imovie as well as avi and any compatible format.

Squared 5 also has a free program that you can use to import and export with..http://www.squared5.com/

I hope this helps because i had a hard time figuring this all out and wished there was one place for this info. Even JVC just tells you to drag the files on to your hard drive then they simply say there is software available, but they fail to explain further than that ...

Let me know if this works for you...
