What's the latest on the alleged K20. Any dates yet?
Official announcement on either the 23rd or 24th of this month, on display at PMA (which begins the 31st I believe), and an availability dadt should be announced with the camera announcement.
Some crude snapshots made with the camera at a pre-announcement in Dubai this past week can be viewed at the following link.
I hope it's really good, although they really should have stuck with 10 MP or 12 MP. They didn't do as well with noise before, when they all had the same number of megapixels. Now that they have more, the gap between Pentax and Canikon may be larger than before.
It'll still be a camera, but not if you sit them side by side with something like the Canon 40D.
Will this be a replacement for the K10D or just an addition to Pentax's lineup?
So, if it's sitting next to the 40D what is it then - a croissant?
It's unsure if it will replace the K10D entirely or if it will be a level above in the product line. Some are saying that K10D production has ceased but I've not heard anything official. Also the current K10D price fits nicely between the new K200D and the speculated street price of $1,200-$1,400 of the K20D.
And to address abstract's post, nothing is for certain yet but high ISO performance is one of the things that those in the know about this camera are touting right now. Maybe not D300 like performance, but not far off supposedly, and from a 14 mega pixel sensor!
