Kanye West's 'Donda' Sets 2021 Apple Music Record With 60 Million First-Day Streams

A lot of jealous people here on Macrumors because Kanye seems to be crazy but actually a Genius
That's just because it's Kanye and people are of course giving his new album a spin. But watch how many streams the individual songs are actually going to accumulate over time. Of course everybody listens to it once or twice, especially after the insane amount of hype Ye managed to create, but there are no memorable songs on it that a significant number of people will put in their playlists and listen to over and over again. The album is mediocre, just like the one before. If he wasn't Kanye West, nobody would give a **** about this album.
Whether or not he is a genius is a moot point. To us fans, he's a musician. What matters is whether or not he puts out great music. The last great albums he put out were Watch The Throne, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and 808s & Heartbreak. That was a long time ago. After that, there was nothing of significance that people will still listen to in a few years.
I won't disagree on other topics, but saying anyone that talks about God that much is suicidal is quite inaccurate.
It's a bloated, over-produced mess. If only he had someone to stand up to him and say that half of the album is simply filler rubbish. 1hour and 45 minutes!! Cut that in half and it the album might bear a second listen.
I was disappointed. Its a step down from Yeezus and TLOP. 🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Hype yeilds # of 0-day listens, and hype is Kanye’s main asset at this point. He could put out an album of barnyard noises and sing in his own made-up language next time at it will still break this record. It could be garbage devoid of any artistic merit, and no one might ever want to hear it again, but add some pre-release drama, and it would still set a new record, bc that’s how selling albums on band fame & brand loyalty has worked for half a century. The artists ride the train til it‘s so big it runs off the rails and they lose their mind, meanwhile everyone piles on the A&R men, producers, execs, management to hype up the next properties in the cache. Same old machine. I hope Kanye finds help with his ongoing mental health issues, but I doubt he’ll find it while still in the industry.

Name an artist that doesn’t suck with more streams then on any streaming platform. Go ahead I’ll wait for more sucky representation but from your pick.
This is Klownye Waste we're talking about. The same guy that landed himself in multi-million $ debt by over spending on his own publicity (hype).
Those streams are as legit as a Bangkok Rolex.
this is almost equivalent to when they tout "90 percent of the users nagged to upgrade to ios 15 use ios 15"
60 million streams and still fell short of Drake. After all that lead-up hype I bet he's pretty ticked about that.
And yet for some reason statistically the majority of saddened individuals are religious. /just making a comment/observation, no need to turn this into an argument.

was it you that began the debate of him another being relevant?! Then stating streams with a random wild hair out the dark nexus about how 60million streams is more like 10million due to most people only streaming multiple times? Either way by insane estimation, you’ve completely contradicted yourself - the fact ppl are streaming at record numbers, and multiple times shows HUGE interest and that proves his relevance! Not just the album but also pre-release event streams still broke records.
then when challenged to come up with a musical artist that’s beat those records (none have hence the point of records reached), you come up with lame excuse it’s not popularity contest, is weak.
you can have your disdain opinion about Kanye, but intelligently you cannot discredit him with proof.
