karabiner elements help!

disappointed that the keyboard brightness keys have been replaced by dictation and focus on my 'new' M1 macbook air. i found a way to remap those keys on reddit... but does not work here in ventura:

remap macbook F5/F6 keys

any one have any ideas? i would love to restore that functionality.

it's like those tv remotes that have netflix/hulu/disney/whatever keys... so ridiculous

i've installed karabiner elements on my M2 air, and set the F5 & F6 keys to adjust the keyboard brightness. works, but... i have command-option-s to sleep my mac, and now... it wakes back up immediately.

anyone have any idea how to stop that from happening? KB elements is a bit above my paygrade...

EDIT: if i uncheck 'manipulate caps lock key' my mac sleeps, but the function key mods no longer work.

(turning on the 2nd "apple Internal Keyboard/Trackpad' button locked out the trackpad! saved by using the cursor from my imac, to turn that back off 😳)


EDIT EDIT: posted on github (this is happening for others on silicon macs). still looking for fixes/workarounds (but will post here IF i learn anything there)...

Did you manage to get it work? . Karabiner dont work so good in this new silicon macs. I cant manage to get it work dont know why, with the trackbar.

at the time, it didn't work for me, so let it go, and no longer need it
