Anyone know if this is being sold in any stores? Or just from the manufacturer?

Are you aware of the fact that you are essentially forced to subscribe to their advanced service, which is not inexpensive?

For what I need the basic will work fine and we already have an AliveCor. Sometimes life trumps cash. My question was about where I can buy one.

Are you aware a fib can kill a person?

Very. I've had cardiac irregularities since I was in middle school. I see the AW as a potential life saver. There was a story at 9to5Mac on that yesterday. The Kardia devices are amazing, but their full plan pricing is high, and frankly not clearly disclosed to buyers.

To your question, though, I've seen the non-band version on the web at their own site and Amazon and Omron. The band may be too new even for that.

I find it to be very clear. Right in the page with the band on their website. I pay $120 a year plus fees for LTE on my Apple Watch and truly that is not a necessary item...and $85 a year for the right to use my vehicles hardware to remote start it...so $100 a year seems reasonable. But like I said before, the basic service is fine with me.

I have one and got it the day it was released. They gave me lifetime premium services for being one of the first to buy. I bought it straight from there website.

Cool! How do you like it? Does it only detect a fib, or can it detect other arrhythmias?
Thanks!

Is what the review said really how it works? How’s battery life of your watch with the band on?

Thanks!

According to the website, it only detects afib.

There is a totally fascinating article https://www.alivecor.com/technology/ on both cardiac issues and their technology posted on their website. I'm a little puzzled by the fact that although an EKG can detect arrhythmias, the Kardia band does not.

For the price, in spite of my earlier skepticism, having this on the band so I can run it while I exercise is extremely attractive - and it's SO easy to swap bands on the AW that this would be a dream to use only while exercising if you didn't want (or need) to wear it all day. I may order this today. Thank you all for a great discussion.

I too like the idea of the Kardia Band. As a runner myself, I can see how it might come in handy. The problem is it only detects Afib. Unless one has Afib, I can't really see how using the device during running would be beneficial. If you fall into that category, this product would probably suit you well. If you do get it, I would be interested in reading about your experience usage.

My past diagnoses include arrhythmia, MVP and a-fib. At a certain point, maybe 40-ish?, I became mostly asymptomatic, although I still experience arrhythmia on isolated occasions and I've been surprised to note the number of incidents that the Apple Heart Health app says it's reported since I started a couple of weeks ago. So even though pricey, this might be interesting and useful. Looks like they're on a 3 to 4 week timetable.

I got the band a few days ago and am very happy that the battery life still seems fine. It was easy to set up and it's interesting so far.

I had a stroke from a blood clot five years ago and have been told that afib is one of the leading causes of blood clots and stroke, so I don't mind the cost for the services at all. I know it's only single lead, but the problem for me has been getting my palpitations documented. They don't seem to happen during the 24-monitor-on-my-chest sessions.

@tl01 - did you ever find a source other than the manufacturer, that's not backordered? I placed an order a week ago on the manufacturer's website. I was wondering if you'd ordered one?

I have not placed an order. My reason for not doing it is I wish the KardiaBand could let me know about other arrhythmias. My heart has been checked countless times and always seems to be in rhythm even though I think sometimes it isn't. I am trying to find a product I can use at home that will give me more info. I searched every home ekg machine available... and I couldn't find one that would do what I wanted. Maybe I should just get the KardiaBand;). Let me know what you think once it arrives!

Will do. I would also like more information that the Kardia products currently provide. (Did you see that there's very noncommittal rumor about Apple getting into this area with a sensor on the Watch?) I, too, have been tested countless times since I was in high school (which was the 1970s), though not in recent years because for a long time I was more or less asymptomatic. I've noticed both tachycardia and arrhythmia in the last year or so, mostly when I exercise. I am very active (Apple Activity app for yesterday, which was a normal day, shows 2,291 "move" calories, 297 exercise minutes, and 18 hours standing, 36,716 steps, 22.54 miles and 48 flights). I may drop dead from a heart attack or stroke but it won't be due to poor physical condition. In the meantime, I'd like as much data as possible.

BTW, did you sign up for the Apple heart study?

I did see Apple might get into the area! It would be great if they did. I love how it gives the user the additional ways to be empowered about their health.

You are quite active and that is the most important thing! I have been much more active in the past two years or so until I broke my foot in September. I had surgery and am now ramping up again. I am planning to close my rings the first 7 days in january and then just keep on going again!

I did sign up for the heart study about a month or so ago...maybe 1.5 months ago and was just recently accepted in. I need to look at the app to see if it says anything. I haven’t had any scary notices yet!

The resulting output can be normal, unreadable, afib or unclassified.
Yep I get a lot of unclassified results but that just means the reading is outside the range KardiaPro is looking for. I had a echocardiogram done and have an appointment with my doctor in two days to tell me what the findings mean

I have the KardiaPro mobile and was really waiting for the KardiaPro band but now I’m in love with my sport loop band and the KardiaPro band looks like a modified apple silicon sports band which I can’t stand :(

Anyone have the KardiaPro band and find it comfortable?

Not sure what you mean by the KardiaPro band. You mean the KardiaBand?

I have it, and after wearing it for a week I can say that I find it comfortable. While I don't like the look of it nearly as much as my Milanese Loop, the possibility to take an instant EKG is worth it IMO.

Happy new year to all!

A lot of what makes the Apple health initiative so attractive to me is the integration. The Kardiaband offers useful data but integration into the watch itself would be better and as you said more data forms from the Kardiaband would be helpful.

Sympathies on your foot. I completely destroyed a shoulder a few years ago and it took six months to get back to a semblance of normal function.

My phone says 27 days in the study and 70 "heart rhythm data contributions." Not sure what to make of that!

Agree on the band...I was thinking of wearing it only while exercising. I realize there's some irony there.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you use the EKG function throughout the day, or only at certain times?

It's new enough that I often do an EKG just because I can. I think though that I'll end up taking one or two at the same time each day, to have a good comparison, in addition to whenever I feel a flutter.
