When "Keep In Dock" is turned on for an Application, its recent items list does not get updated. Removing it from the Dock fixes this problem.

This is a strange bug. I've filed a bug report.

Was just wondering who else has encountered this bug.
Have tested it on multiple Macs (including friends' Macs) that are running El Cap 10.11.1.

Hmm, I will have to check that. I have the App Store icon in my Dock now since turning off Automatic Downloads and it updates with the number of updates available to me.

that's not the same thing.

i did notice this at some point with office 2016; i've since reinstalled and not seen the problem again - i don't know if it was a problem with the program itself that's been fixed in an update?

I believe Office implements this differently. I've got this going on with most of the apps I've pinned to the dock. Most of them being Apple apps. I've also read online that Apple has changed how this works, so that may have something to do with it. I submitted a bug report.
