I have the 3 and the Mini

And although I could have gotten by with just one, I generally use the Mini,
for everyday use, and the 3 for business and customers.
Also, I drive on long trips and the mini fits perfect on my dashboard so I can watch movies as I go. I suppose it might also be good for navigation.

I'm not sure I get the reasoning behind having an iPhone, iPad Mini, and iPad. For me, the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini are too close to the same form factor and functionality. So as much as I want one (mostly for reading), it just seems too extraneous. The full-size iPad serves a totally different purpose, and is a perfect in-between for the iPhone 5 and MBP.

I think both sizes serve a purpose. I personally like the full size iPad where the mini comes in handy if you want to take it with you on the road or if you use it lying in bed. I find the weight of the full size iPad becomes an issue if you are using it for more than 45 minutes. You begin to notice the weight.

I went from an iPod Touch (3rd gen) to an iPad Mini. I don't consider them the same form factor. It's much easier to read on the Mini in my opinion.

Agree, i dont understand why people dont get frustrated coming from full sized Ipad to a mini. The screen is much smaller and less clear. You can't read full paragraph on the device unless you zoom in to read by sentences. Having a big screen phone (4", 4.3") whatsoever should be equally useful if not much better since they made it at better PPI.

I have the iPad 4 and can see using both devices but for me it can't be the mini.
As nice as the form factor is, I can't deal with the screen. The small text is unreadable and when enlarged isn't close to sharp. The regular sized text is pixelated and just not pleasant to read after using retina. I wish I could love the mini as it would be so nice to have on the go. Even if it gets a retina screen with the next upgrade I would still prefer my iPad 4 for use at home. I prefer the larger screen.
