So; what you're saying is - you do nothing, apart from talking and playing games etc. on your iPhone. Wow! What a constructive and interesting life you lead! Your contribution to society is er... unfathomable! ;) :D

If only you knew! ;)

I've had a first gen for almost two years now. The only time I shut the phone off is on very long plane rides (I also carry a nano on these flights). I charge at night with the phone still on. After two years of basically being on I'm only now seeing the slightest drop in battery life. I plan to switch to the new phone when it becomes available so I don't really think battery life is a true problem as most will switch after two years or shorter...
Probably the best post in the thread.

I have never understood the battery paranoia.

I almost guarantee that, unless your phone is just a real lemon, the batter will out last how long you will have the phone for.

But at any rate, I have been doing the same thing for a year now and I haven't noticed any battery life degradation.

I simply look at my phone right before I go to bed.

Then one of two things happen:

1) I see a battery less than 50%, in which case I leave it on and hook it to the charger to charge over night.

2) I see a battery at more than 50%, in which case I turn it off and resume power in the morning.

I will say that probably 5/7 times, option 1 happens.

So basically, I power it on and off twice a week, give or take.

Now, as far as leaving it on playing music all the time in a car even when you are not in the car, well, that makes absolutely no sense to me.

But to each his or her own. :D
