I am keeping mine, walking/running without dragging along the phone is great! A phone in shorts/sweats pockets suck and messing with the phone belt is a minor annoyance.
Another advantage is if I don't have the phone working out I am not tempted to futz with it.
I just wanted to let you know that I picked up a great pair of Nike sweatpants that are the most comfortable I have ever bought, the inside lining is so soft (even after washing) because that is how all Nike Therma-Fit tech is:
WHAT IS NIKE THERMA-FIT?
Nike Therma-FIT is a double-brushed microfiber fleece that retains energy and resists heat loss. Nike Therma-FIT provides maximum insulation from cold and wind with minimal weight and bulk. It is ideal for any cold weather activities that require insulation. Nike Therma-FIT can be worn alone or as part of a multi-layering system, so when temperatures drop, workouts don’t have to.
So anyway, the Nike Thermal-Fit sweats I bought have a side pocket on the right leg (kind of like a cargo short pocket but a little smaller) and it is perfect for your iPhone. Put it in that pocket and it has a button that keeps it closed that is really tight, I have never had it pop open on me well taking a jog.
I do have a S3 LTE and have kept my LTE service on even after the trial ended. I like the LTE a lot for the convenience of say I am doing laundry, and keep in mind I live in a condo building on the 7th floor, I can just take the elevator down and put my clothes in and do it without my iPhone with me. If I see someone in the social room I know, I can go in and say hi to them and visit and not worry about my iPhone as everything will still comes to my S3 LTE. Things like that are really convenient. Also, to even expand on that, if I want to take a quick ride to the store while waiting for my laundry I do not have to run up and get my iPhone because I have Apple Pay on my S3 and everything else. Also, for workouts it is nice NOT to have to take your iPhone (sometimes I do just to see if the results are a little more accurate or not - which I have found with the iPhone with me, workouts are a tad bit more accurate.) for sure, and the safety element is pretty nice, knowing I have LTE connectivity and could contact the police, or use Emergency SOS to get help.
Also, it is beneficial to carry your iPhone with you sometimes when you go for a walk/jog/run for calibration purposes (yes, even the S3 LTE has to be calibrated) which is usually the only reason I will bring it with me:
If you were instead only ever to record Outdoor Walk or Outdoor Run workouts in areas with limited or no GPS reception, then your Apple Watch would not be able to calibrate accurately.
Calibration teaches your Apple Watch how your arm movements relate to your stride lengths at different speeds when you are walking and/or running. It does this by comparing data from the accelerometer with GPS / Location Services data.
This information is used to help estimate distance during any later workouts when GPS data is limited or unavailable and also during general daily wear.
This kind of ties back to the sweatpants I was referring to someone earlier. That side pocket is great for calibrating the iPhone since it is more down by your knee area it picks up your stride excellently, better than having it in the normal side pocket up by your waist more which does not get your full stride as good.
So to answer the main question, so far I am keeping it. I was actually very mad when I (we) found out that the bill would be closer to $15-$16 dollars with fees and taxes, so I gave AT&T a call and they gave me an additional 3 months free for not being upfront about the pricing. I was probably going to cancel in the winter months since I do not go out for jogs much, but the extra 3 months gets me to April because I did pay January's bill, and the extra 3 months does not start until my next bill cycle. Sorry for the long answer, but I wanted to let Barjam know about those sweats.
This is a link to the sweatpants. It is them, even though on JCPennys website it does not say Therma-Fit they are. If you zoom in on the right leg in the picture you can see where that side pocket it is:
