I'm going to return my dishwasher if it isn't running IBM's latest and greatest embedded PowerPC processor! And don't get me started on the processor in my cable box's DVR. :D

If one wants to pick the iPhone 5 apart, there's other issues of greater significance than the processor.

But why pick it apart?

The phone is _not_ designed for high performance
It's _not_ designed to appeal to enthusiasts
It's _not_ designed to allow much customization

Remember, it's a new era at Apple. One where, like the big box stores, the goal is high volume with products that appeal to Everyman, Everywoman & Everykid.

It's about simple, easy to use & highly profitable.

No more no less.

Couldn't give a monkeys. Like every other iPhone, it'll be top of the iOS food chain for twelve months, everything will be optimised and targeted at it. Second year it'll still be great, only lacking a couple of bleeding edge elements, 3rd year time for a new phone!

It's amongst the reasons I like iOS over android personally. You can have quad core and ram up the kazoo, but what's the point if 95% of phones haven't and accordingly little is optimised and targeted at it? I have a Galaxy Note, great phone but bog all software that plays to its strengths as it probably represents 0.0001% of android phone share so why would devs bother optimising apps for it?

For reference, look at the 360, it's long overdue a refresh (I was sick of waiting and bought a ninja pc) but look at some of its software, can you imagine Max Payne 3 or Skyrim running and looking like that on a £300 pc from 2005? In some cases, fixed spec ftw.
