I have a 3G and yes I'm a germ-a-phobe. I had no idea it had water sensors in the headphone jack and the connector. Before I became a member of this site I probably wiped my phone down with a cleaning cloth at least once a week all over the place. So whenever I upgrade to a 3GS in the future, how do you keep the phone sanitary, like say if you get sick, obviously you want to get rid of those germs. I don't want my sensors tripped and my warranty screwed first week I have it. Any tips?

Try not to use it in any places that is humid, such as a beach or your bathroom while showering. As for the sanitary part, I don't think you can do anything about that there since phones are one of the most germ-catching items because they touch literally everywhere all the time. My friend is also a germ-a-phobe, but the phone isn't a concern unless you want to just leave it in a ziploc bag and text/call with the phone in the bag.

I keep my phone in the case mostly and every now and then I'll wipe it down with a Microfiber.

Well you said you wiped it down before you knew the sensors were there, just do the same thing you have been doing, but more carful. Obviously what you have been doing hasnt harmed the phone.

I wipe mine down with Clorox Wipes, and just make sure not to go near the ports. These clean and disinfect at the same time. Then I polish it dry with a cloth.

Germaphobes crack me up.

Are you trying to cripple your immune system? Germs are ok.

The people that clean their phones for sanitary reasons: Do you get sick easily or are you seriously just afraid of germs?

I've never cleaned my phone except to get fingerprints/smudges off the screen. Never had a problem.

Ok, I guess this will not fly with a germophobe, but after showering I use my damp towel and give the phone a good wipe down. Then polish with my T-shirt. It comes out like brand new! Try it.

That is the future Purell has created.

The old boogeyman, socialism, is dead. The new boogeymen are germs.

I just wipe mine down with a microfiber cloth both the screen and the back (despite the fact that I have a silicon case the back gets horribly dirty sometimes, god knows how). And if I get something on it ill just wipe it off with a slightly damp tissue or a wet wipe.

This, but a little more sensitively :)

I'm not in any way, shape or form a germaphobe, nor do I take asprin when I have a headache, or take any kind of medicine really and I'm hardly ever sick. Not to say that's the only reason I'm like this, but numerous studies have proved that we are over-medicating, especially our children.

Uh, when it's a hot day and I get sweat all over the phone and then it dries there leaving a salty film on the screen... that has nothing to do with germs.

It's just gross and makes the screen hard to see. But yeah, cleaning it off is a bad thing.

I use water, btw. Just keep it out of the audio jack and the dock connector and you'll be fine.
