Keeps asking to join wireless network

Just got my new macbook. I've been on an ibook G4 for YEARS and when I got on line (woke it up) it would just automatically connect to my wireless connection which is a mifi from verizon at home.
This macbook keeps asking me if I want to join a connection which the mifi shows up. Just another step. Is there anyway to have it automatically connect each time I open it to wake it up?
 
well, I never did anything different but now it's just picking it up automatically. this laptop has a mind of its own
