Keeps asking: "touch id requires your password when iphone restarts" but I have NOT restarted my iphone 6s.

What's up with that?

(Happens when I want to download something from the app store).

Thanks for any suggestions,
Mike

Does it ask the first time you download from the app store?
For me it asks for the pasword the first time but after that it prompts for touchid.

Yes, the first time I download it asks for a password. Then, if I download another app, it does you the fingerprint. But the next day, or 2 days later, if I want to download an app, it again asks me for the password (as if the phone reboots overnight or something).

Is that normal?

I woke up to this three times last week. Phone crashed during charging overnight? What a joke. I'm on the most recent public beta.

Most likely, Apple has set a time out for the touchid, doesn't matter if you have restarted or not.

There is such a thing if you haven't unlocked your device in 48 hours, but nothing really aside from that.

Similar to not unlocking your device for 48 hours, if you do not make a purchase from the App store (free or paid), for 48 hours, it will require your Apple ID password again.

For me, app store always ask for the password for the first purchase and then for subsequent purchases prompts for touchid. Even 1Password app asks for password the first time and then touchid.
I should mention that I ususally restart the iphone everyday, so it could be because of that.

That 48 hrs limit is I think for the lock screen password, not for for app store downloads.

There is also a 48 hour limit for App store downloads.

Well that explains it: 48 hour for app store purchases. I must say it's really annoying because apple forces such a complex and hard password.

Once the iphone is setup, how often do people really buy apps? (probably infrequently, so it will asking for passwords lots :-(

Great answer, very helpful forum!

Downloading updates seems to reset it. I haven't had to reenter my password but a couple of times in the last two months.
