I'm trying to figure out whether the iPad supports the functionality I'm looking for, or if I have to get a Macbook with iPhoto on it.

I'd like to simply and easily run slideshows from an album of photos with the automatic Ken Burns transitions (pan/zoom) and music in the background. However, I can't find any documentation as to whether i can do this:

    a. on an iPad hooked directly up to a television.
    b. on an iPad using Airplay and an Apple TV.
    c. streaming photos from a mac to an Apple TV.
    d. running the slideshow directly from a mac hooked up to my TV.

I'd like the simplest/easiest solution, which would be the iPad if it's possible, but I don't know if it is. If anyone can tell me if it is possible to do this type of slideshow either directly or with Airplay, that would help.

You can do b for sure as I just did so and I believe you can do a as well but I don't have the hdmi adapter kit to try it, connecting a Mac to a tv can be a real pain so I'd avoid that option but you can browse your iPhoto library through home sharing with an apple tv.

I'd recommend an iPad and Apple TV to accomplish what you want to do.
