I did a force eject with the mac os x cd and now the kernel version screen comes up every time I start my mac book. It says to restart your computer and I do but every time it comes back up. On the top its says unable to find driver for this platform "ACPI" I have searched and found answer for questions like this but havent seen anyone one with the exact problem. None of those answers like resetting the pram did anything.

Thanks for the help.

Likely will have to boot into target disk mode and use something like Disk Warrior to rebuild the drive.

Though some people may not have been able to boot in target disk mode.

If it is the MacBook with easy access to the HD, a cheap notebook HD enclosue may be an end run around a fragged drive instantly crashing the machine.
