Hey guys, so I'm a musician, I produce music in Logic X.. I use a ton of plugins and processing, which eats up a bunch of my free resources on my MacBook Pro.. I looked at my Activity Monitor and saw that "kernel_task" was using up 1.75gb+ of my RAM!

I did some research on this, and found some information in this one video that you're supposed to delete the MacBookPro8_2.plist (which corresponds to my MacBook Pro) from the your Macintosh HD System Library Extensions (as documented in below article and video)..

I then restarted my computer, opened Logic X and nothing else besides that, and noticed that kernel_task was still running @ 1.75gb RAM.. So I closed Logic X, ran and fixed disk permission, restarted again, reopened just Logic X, and the kernel_task is still taking up the same amount of RAM.. I made sure and double checked that the .plist was removed and emptied from my trash bin, and re-ran disk permissions utility, restarted again, and still nothing..

Is this normal for "kernel_task" to be using up this much of my system's memory/RAM? It's really a huge deal for me since I only have 8gb RAM total on my MacBook Pro, and Logic X is constantly crashing/freezing up.. Does anybody have any input on this? Thanks! :)

    *EDIT - UPDATE*
I posted this same thread in the Forums over @ www.logicprohelp.com .. hoping that I could find an answer to this problem, and one of the members requested I ran the "etresoft" report on my system.. Still waiting on a response on both Forums, but I figured I'd post my system report here as well, in hope that someone can find an answer to why Logic X is constantly giving me the "System Overload" error message when I have all my tracks frozen, from the beginning to end of the project, straight through, and only have 6 aux busses, with only maybe 4 or 5 plugins on each.. and nothing on my Master channel, besides Sonalksis Free-G (for more accurate metering, since Logic's meters are awful, and since Free-G probably doesn't use up many resources at all)..

Also, it's my birthday today, so if one of you guys could solve this constantly recurring problem for me, that would be the best birthday gift ever!! :D

That's where Mac OS X's file cache lives. On Mac OS X, like most UNIX and UNIX derived systems, free ram is wasted ram.
