Like the threads here and here, kernel_task has been jumping around and taking all of my resources ever since I upgraded to Leopard. Right now, it's at 51 threads, 136MB RAM, 1.10GB of Virtual, and depending what I use my computer for, the CPU usage will jump to 100% with kernel_task taking what it can (60% - 80%). What's going on?

I am having the same problem with my system freezing a lot. I have a Macbook core duo 2.0ghz with 2 g ram. I shut off .mac sync and it helped alot. Leopard seems buggy and slow, I am seriously considering re-installing tiger.

Yeah, I think the main reason why kernel_task kicks my computer to 100% CPU usage is when I'm accessing a network server: moving, copying, etc. data. I really hope this gets fixed soon.
