ReadWriteWeb reports that Digg founder Kevin Rose accidentally confirmed during a recent interview that an iPhone application for the popular social news site is under development. The revelation came in response to a question from one of the interviewers claiming to have seen a peek at the application.
How did the interviewers end up catching a glimpse of the application? Eriksen wrote us today in an email, "We were sitting next to each other, and he had his iPhone in hand. I was turning to him to ask him a question when I saw him playing around with the app."

or.... he purposely confirmed it, and now has generated news coverage for something that I otherwise had not heard of...

I think this dude's accidental video confirmation of a digg app is a bigger story than the release of a digg app will be.

I wonder how many people are going to Digg this thread. :D

When the reporter said "I saw the digg app on your iPhone," Kevin then had two options. He could have said "Oh, that wasn't a Digg App, it was ____." But, instead he decided to confirm it. He easily could have responded either way. The thing is, from an advertising and publicity standpoint, what he did was very beneficial to getting the world out to consumers that the new iPhone app is coming. It's free advertising.

Really, who cares? I mean someone cares, but all a Digg app will do is slightly optimize your use of Digg vs. broswer interface. Whoop-de-doo.

I have a digg app.
No one cares.
Kevin Rose never "accidentally" leaks anything.
