Who is Kevin Rose?

If it's worth anything, Larry McDonald thinks that the iPhone is going to die after this year.

If you want to know more of what my friends, random people and others who have nothing to do with Apple care about, just ask. I'll be glad to tell.

I am all for brushed aluminum iPhone if that doesn't disadvantage reception or anything else.

I wonder what it would do to the iPhone case industry though, assuming less people will cover their iPhone.

He created digg.com. I'm guessing he has a little bit more insider info on technology, rumors, etc.

yeah the last thing I want is an aluminum phone that will end up with more dents/dimples than a golf ball

How can it be more "unibody" than it already is? It's a solid back piece with a piece of glass in the front.

It's not like rigidity is currently a concern.

People are using "unibody" when they mean "CNC machined out of billet aluminium."

The next gen iPhone will be multi-core as well. You can take that to the bank.

I don't think so, multi-core comes out in 2010 which is to late for apple to test it out. Remember apple started testing the 3gS back in Oct/Nov of 2008. So I'm guessing they are going to be testing the next iPhone later this year in 2009, and the multi-core doesn't come out until 2010.

Aluminum back. iPhone will be without seams of course.

I am guessing either metal or yet another no design change<--which is highly unlikely. I believe current iPhone design is the best design with plastic back; how could they change the back without going metal? Plastic back with no tapered edge maybe? It won't look as nice.

I noticed a big improvement from the 1st gen iphone to 3g in terms of reception. I bet it's got to do as much with improved hardware as it does the plastic case.

(p.s. go deacs!)

Perhaps so. But even on the first gen, they had the rubber base to help. I can't see them making a totally metal case.

(go deacs! Nice to see another Charleston area Deac on here)

Exactly. That's what I meant. Next gen iPhone = late 2010.

I don't know if I'd like an aluminum phone myself. Image the reception problems it would have if it was made entirely out of aluminum!

Yes, because its not like other devices which rely on radio communications have aluminium enclosures. I mean, just imagine how stupid it'd be to create a laptop with an aluminium enclosure!

Electromagnetic wave transmission is not an easy subject. I'm an electronic engineer, I know.

I think he has some credibility, and I doubt he'd just go around spreading rumors, being the founder of Digg and all... not good for his rep ya know :)

They're going to change it up for the next version... screen size / resolution will probably stay the same, but hopefully the design will get a kick.

Who is Kevin Rose?

The guy who told us the iPhone was going to have 2 batteries: one for the iPod, and one for the phone. It would also release immediately after MWSF 2007 on all cellular networks, with a slide-out keyboard.

I don't really care that they use plastic. Maybe a matte plastic would be nice. I'd also like apple to add the front facing camera.

Exactly.

He's just looking to get his name mentioned in a few articles and podcasts.

There was a time that Seth Brundell-Fly was working on a unibody nuclear family but that didn't turn out so well for him.

I'd love to see a completely unibody iPhone, but it would be pretty much pointless.

I like that the 3Gs uses the same form factor because the existing peripherals and accessories will still work with it.

If Apple releases a new form factor, some/many/all your existing peripherals and accessories will probably not work. This leads to more expense when you choose to upgrade.

As for KR's prediction. A metal body doesn't make sense reception wise.
