I dont like the idea of cutting and pasting files and folders. What happens if you cut an important folder and then theres a power outage?

No more important folder!

WOW... remarkable! There are a couple things like this in Mac OS that appear to remain unfixed because of ego and not wanting to learn / borrow anything from Windows. I also like being able to cut, paste and rename files inside the "Open File" dialogue of a given application which also seems "intentionally overlooked" in Mac OS.

The two companies steal from each other all the time. If they didn't, Windows wouldn't even exist (hey, Apple rightfully bought the idea from Xerox! I think....). Joking aside, it does happen all of the time on both sides.

However, It's a safe guess that Apple wants to remain "simple" and easy to use while imagining the dumbest people (who unfortunately do exist, the kind who probably shouldn't be driving a car let alone using a computer) accidentally deleting their personal using "Cut" improperly, and somehow it being Apple's fault for even having that option in the first place.

It's the reason it took them so long to have a two button mouse, and it's the reason they've had a one-physical-button-yet-still-two-sides-cause-that's-somehow-not-confusing touch-sensitive mouse. It's still the main focus for Apple as apparent on many of their products, and while it may save many from their own stupidity it is getting to the point where they need to grow up a little bit. Computers aren't new to that many people who will purchase a Mac these days. Those I have seen are really really old.

FYI, if you want to move a file from one volume to another (the default is always to copy rather than move); hold Cmd while dragging. I know it's not precisely what your asking for, but it's probably the best Mac alternative when the destination is on another drive.

Wrong. If you "cut" a file or folder, it's not actually deleted until the "paste" operation completes. And the journaled filesystem is an extra failsafe against data corruption.

Do you even own a mac? This is like the third time you mention the word "Cut" when moving files in the finder.

IT CAN'T BE DONE.

Go ahead, try it - report back here when you finally understand.
