I have been a Mac convert for the last 18 months and am the proud owner of a Macbook 4.1 Dual Core, 2.4GHz using MAC OSX v 10.5.8. For no apparent reason, neither the Keyboard or the Touchpad respond and I end up using a Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard which work perfectly ok. To make matters worse, this issue comes and go's without warning. I can go two months with everything ok, then suddenly it all stops working and then suddenly it's all ok again. It is almost as if there is a way of disabling these functions which I have inadvertently done. I have re-loaded the operating system which has not achieved anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou.

Your best bet will probably be to take it in and see what they say and hopefully diagnose something.

There is a single cable that runs from the top case that connects to the logicboard. If that cable has been damaged in some small way or isn't completely seated in the port, that would explain the intermittent failures. They might not replace anything the first time except reseat that cable but when it does it again, take it back.
