I bought this rMBP13 in November 2013. It's a Haswell model with 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD. I really like everything except recently I've been experiencing problems where the keyboard and trackpad stops working. The power key works though. Also my USB keyboard and mouse works, and so does bluetooth Apple trackpad.
I heard there were problems initially with these but I never had those problems so I thought I was lucky. Then there were firmware updates that resolves those issues, which doesn't supposed to affect my laptop. I have all the updates installed, and now I often see this happening on my machine.
I always put my laptop on sleep, and when I come to work I connect the power jack, then open the lid. BTW, the power jack sometimes doesn't light up even though it says it's plugged in on my laptop screen. Since I opened the screen, it wakes up and then I connect Apple Cinema Display's displayport and USB to my laptop. I have a USB hub and a Logitech Unified receiver plugged in on the back of the Cinema Display. I also use Apple's Magicpad over bluetooth. Those work fine even when the laptop's keyboard and trackpad is not responding.
I tried Shift + Control + Option + Power to reset SMC, and also Command + Option + P + R to reset PRAM/NVRAM. Didn't really help. It's the same as rebooting. The problem comes back randomly later at some point, and then a reboot temporary fixes it.
Edit: I was about to reboot so I was closing all the apps. Viber, Chrome, Safari, TexShop, then suddenly my keyboard and trackpad on the notebook start working again. Brightness control also works again. What's going on?
