Why would you want to keep the keyboard light on at all times? As of now, I use my MBP/PB at home. So, I turn off that feature so that I don't burn off the keyboard lighting.

Burn off? Its an LED... the hard drive and likely the LCD will fail much sooner than the keyboard backlight...

Are you sure of that? Someone on this forum said his/her PB's backlight stopped working after 2 years of use. I think MBP shares the same backlight mechanism with PB.
