So the keyboard backlight on my MBP 2006 isn't working, and the highly likely reason is the shop that re-soldered its dead GPU for me probably didn't connect it properly.

The thing is if you've taken it apart you'll know that this model has a ridiculous amount of screws and is a huge pain. So I'm looking to buy a USB light.

The key points are it has to be self supported (not placed on table), and also has to be dim. Most products I find have the opposite as a selling point.

Anyone know a good one?

Check Five Below and Dollar Tree. Sometimes they stock small USB powered lights that through their cheap construction are not very bright! They range anywhere from $1.00 to $3.00 at those shops.
