Keyboard Backlight Says Nope?

Running an i7 MBP and just tried turning up the backlit keyboard. It's off and is now giving me this when I attempt to turn the light up and down.

I feel like it's a simple issue I just can't seem to figure out what's going on.

fixed it. Held my finger over the light sensor and it activated the keyboard. Funny it decides when you should be able to use the feature or not....or maybe this library is too damn bright.

Is your ambient light sensor working? Try covering it with your hand to see if it makes a difference (it's located near the camera). The keyboard won't light up in bright environments, presumably to preserve battery power.
