Running Tahoe 26.5 on an M1 Mac mini. Apple Magic Keyboard MXK73LL/A connected by Bluetooth. I cannot turn on or adjust the backlight brightness on the keyboard. Tahoe keyboard settings do not include an option to change the backlight brightness, and neither does Control Center. To be clear, I am trying to change the backlighting on the keyboard, not the display. I have seen this discussed online bit I have not found a fix. Any help appreciated.

I have always wondered why Apple has never offered a back light keyboard on their stand-alone even if battery life took a hit I am sure the majority would love the option in the mean time there is Logitech.

This appears to be a macOS Tahoe bug affecting some Apple keyboards. Try these quick fixes
Remove and re-pair the keyboard via Bluetooth.
Restart the Mac and keyboard.
Check in a dark room ambient light can disable backlighting.
Update to the latest Tahoe patch version.
If the slider/options are completely missing it’s likely an OS issue rather than hardware.

I agree.

I use only Apple keyboards because of the Touch ID... but I would LOVE for it to have backlight.
