Keyboard dead when waking from sleep

Sometimes when waking the laptop from sleep the keyboard doesn't respond and I have to hard reboot the computer. This is really dangerous because I can lose days of work in the boot. Has anyone experienced this? I've tried resetting the smc and although the issue disappeared it came back.

Well it's brand new so take it back to apple and get them to fix it, thats what your warranty is for.
