Hi everybody;

I've been scratching my head for a couple of days and looking online for help. My wife's MacBook Air will be 2 years old in December. The keyboard does not work, but after it finishes booting up. Meaning we are able to enter the password in the Log-in screen, but then the keyboard does not work. The only key that works is the CMD that if you press several times the CMD Flower Like image will appear on the right side of the screen.

What have I done? I reset the Mac with the shift+alt+CMD+P+R(might be a different I just writing from what I remember) and their variations. I can use the Bluetooth mouse with no problems. All info that I got was from non responsive keyboard but as I stated only stops working after the password is entered.

Well recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Create another administrator USERID and log in using the new USERID to see if things change.

That will be difficult if the keyboard doesn't work, but it's a great idea.

Get a USB keyboard; it doesn't even have to be Mac specific (you'll be asked to map keys the first time you plug it in). It will allow you to create the new administrator USERID and perform other troubleshooting.

For whatever reason I kept one when I unloaded my last Windows desktop. I've needed it a couple times to restart bluetooth on my iMac.

Well yesterday I kept looking for info. I put the Mac into recovery mode and since I wan't on the OS yet I was able to use the keyboard & recover from a past July's back up. After the recovery I went ahead and updated again to High Sierra and is working as before. What could happened? My wife was moving data to an external HD, and maybe she deleted a system file, maybe. :rolleyes:
