Wired apple keyboard.

Computer woke from sleep to the lock screen with password authentication prompt on screen. Computer repetitively making the DUN sound just like the space bar is being held down. Sound stops by using the keyboard.

The issue can be reproduced by restarting the computer. The sound is present once you reach the login screen. It stops once you log in. Only once did the sound persist after logging in.

No longer reproducible with restart.

Powered off computer completely, let sit 30 minutes in off state, and restarted without the issue reoccurring.

Hopefully, this solved the problem.

Computer woke from sleep with same issue this morning at roughly the same time as yesterday?

Realized the issue only started after swapped out external hard drives.

Could the new peripheral be causing the issue?

It is a USB 2.0/3.0 compatible external hard drive. The computer only supports USB 2.0.

Further testing show that the keyboard is done.

This issue progressively got worse.

Hopefully this thread helps others with this issue.
