Keyboard glitch

Recently my keyboard has been acting up the problems are as follows

alt key no longer functional
"]" key adds a period so it ends up looking like "]."
also the "\" key adds a 0 so it ends up looking like "\0"

interestingly enough, the "]" and "\" worked normally one day about a week ago and i thought the computer had finally sorted out the glitch. But the keys started glitching again.

these problems are super annoying especially when using photoshop where the alt key is used so frequently.

Is this a intel or ppc based mac?

Have you done the SMC and PRAM set on the unit? Does this effect external keyboards also

Its an intel Imac running leopard. I havent reset the pram but i will try, although it might be hard to do considering my alt key is non functional.

If it's a leopard thing, you shouldn't have issues doing the PRAM

i guess it must be a hardware issue, i tried resetting the pram but nothing happened

Did u try a external keyboard?

I'm using an imac, the only keyboard is external. i havent tried a different keyboard though
