iPad mini Keyboard issue on iPad Mini 5

When I type a new note, my keyboard pops up to the middle of the screen so I can’t see what I’m typing and I can’t move it. This just started today. How can I stop it from doing this?

Touch & hold the keyboard hide button, then select “Dock” from the pop-up menu
